Why this matters
Almost every paver failure we get called out to fix, shifting, sinking, weeds pushing up through the joints, traces back to inadequate base prep rather than the pavers themselves. Expansive desert soil moves more than people expect between our hot summers and cooler winters, and skipping proper compaction and drainage now shows up as a sunken patio in two or three years. We excavate to the right depth, compact real road-base aggregate in lifts rather than dumping it in all at once, and grade for drainage before a single paver goes down, whether it's a travertine pool deck, a concrete paver driveway, or a natural stone walkway.
