When to Call an Emergency Tree Service

A tree or large limb down on a structure, vehicle, or fence needs immediate professional attention, both for safety and to limit further damage.

Any tree or limb in contact with power lines is an emergency, but call the utility company directly for the line hazard itself, and keep everyone away from the area. Tree crews should not approach live lines without utility coordination.

A tree that's actively leaning further than it was, especially after wind or heavy rain, can be actively failing and should be assessed the same day if possible.

A dead but stable tree that isn't leaning or dropping large limbs can typically wait for a scheduled estimate rather than an emergency call, even if it needs to come down eventually.

Routine tree trimming needs, even overdue ones, aren't emergencies. They're a normal service request.

Keep people, pets, and vehicles away from the affected area. If there's any contact with power lines, treat the whole area as electrified and stay well clear until the utility company confirms it's safe.

Take photos if it's safe to do so. They're useful both for the tree crew's planning and for any insurance claim related to storm or structural damage.
